German Shepherd chewing
The larger the dog, the more high energy they tend to be.
Chewing is a completely normal way for a dog to use up some of that energy: it exercises their jaws, cleans their teeth and gums, and passes a little time.
German Shepherds are big dogs with energy in spades, finding the right chew toy is very important.
The chances are, it’s really going to be put through its paces!
The best chew toys for German Shepherds will be able to cope with their strong jaws and high chewing needs.
Why do German Shepherds need chew toys?
German Shepherds are highly energetic, very intelligent and quite strong.
So it’s important to keep them properly entertained and exercised.
Pair that with a dog’s natural instinct to chew, and a good chew toy becomes one of the most important items you can buy for your dog.
You’ll have your German Shepherd chewing on the right thing, instead of random things around your house.
It will save your favorite shoes and furniture, and keep your dog occupied and happy.
What are the best chew toys for German Shepherds?
When deciding on the best chew toys for German Shepherd dogs, you need to consider several things.
You need to know how hard your dog chews so the toy you buy isn’t in pieces hours after you bring it home.
If your dog is rough when they play, toys like braided ropes or stuffed characters will barely last.
German Shepherd chew toys should be made for durability.
Look for rubber toys that they can pick up and carry around.
The rubber should be hard enough to endure a mauling, but not so hard that it could damage their teeth.
Toys labeled as “indestructible” will have more longevity against your dog’s habits.

My GSD doesn’t want to tear up her toys but her teeth are so sharp it can’t be helped. The orange and blue chuck it balls work great for her. They split after enough of her chewing. My girl taught herself how to bounce and catch the ball when she is bored with the orange and blue chuck it.
Matt Thompson says
I own 3 German Sheperds and I wouldn’t use ANY of these toys. All natural soup bones work best, a little messy at times but that comes with the territory.
Edward Steeneck says
I was looking for a new toy for a german shepherd puppy. According to the above text one would think that this was a good choice. Check the amazon reviews for the snug ball & let me know what you’ve got to say. I’ve read that it’s a choking hazard for large breeds so I’m doubting when you said they were good for german shepherds.
